SUMMARY:PHP Oxford meetup
DESCRIPTION:This month we are excited to be joined by Peter Fisher (@pfwd)
telling us how to "Code with confidence using PHPStan".\n\n"With new proje
cts starting on PHP 8 and the increasing usage of data types and upgrades
that PHP 8 brings\, the use of static analysis has become increasingly pop
ular. PHPStan has recently released version 1 which includes stricter chec
ks and a pro version that offers more versatility. For new projects\, the
use of static analysis is a great tool to keep fresh code clean and confor
mative\, but how can static analysis be used on legacy projects and how ca
n PHPStan increase our confidence when building upon our code bases?\n\nPe
ter Fisher is a UK based contract PHP developer. He has over 20 years expe
rience writing PHP software for small to enterprise clients.\n\nPeter is a
lso the host of How To Code Well\, a YouTube channel that has taught devel
opers a wide variety of programming languages. How To Code Well has a live
weekly podcast and Peter is a member of the live coders Twitch team."\n\n
Interesting in speaking?\n\nIf you'd like to present or even do a lightnin
 g talk (5-20 minutes) at a future event\, please get in touch!\n\nRefreshm
 ents & sponsors\n\nIn the olden days\, we'd have a physical meet-up where
the venue and refreshments (drinks and snacks) would be provided courtesy
of our sponsors. Despite not being able to take full advantage of their ge
nerosity\, we continue to thank Invitial (https://www.invitial.com/) for t
heir support\, and to Oxford Centre for Innovation (https://www.ocfi.co.uk
/) for use of the venue.\n\nCode of Conduct\n\nPlease note that this meet-
up is covered by our code of conduct (https://github.com/phpoxford/code-of
-conduct/blob/master/code-of-conduct.md). We request that all attendees ab
ide by the code of conduct at all times. Thank you!\n\nhttps://www.laracha
