SUMMARY:Electrify your evening with Lightning Talks
DESCRIPTION:Schedule\n\n18:30 - 19:00 - Sign in\, networking\, drinks and f
 ood!\n\n19:00 - Close - Lighting Talks and chat\n\nWelcome to 2020\, not j
ust a new year\, but a new decade\, and PHP's fourth decade. It's been qui
te a journey for the language!\n\nTo start off the year\, Stephen\, Ally a
nd Nev will each do a lightning talk - one talk is about a problem encount
ered at work\, the other about an interesting post on medium.com and the o
ther about something rummaging about in Nev's head.\n\nWe'd love if a few
others could do a simple lightning talk too\, perhaps the thing you were m
ost proud of last year\, something you learned recently\, or something you
want to learn more about.\n\nWe are looking forwards to seeing you and wi
shing you a Happy New Year.\n\nA lightning talk is just a short talk (no m
inimum length! Can be two minutes if you like!). It doesn't need to be pol
ished\, well rehearsed or fancy in any way. You can make it up on the spot
if you like! Just to make sure we can get through everyone on the night\,
we will introduce a maximum talk length.\n\nIt can be about anything you
like\, here are some ideas but you are not limited to these at all! - A pr
oblem you recently solved at work\, a library / framework or tool you've r
ecently discovered\, talks of interest at a conference you attended\, some
 thing new you've just learned\, a website you've recently launched\, somet
hing that annoys you\, something you love\, a cool feature you've develope
d\, a new solution to an old problem\, something that's inspired you from
another language or framework\, something you want to learn more about or
a blog post that's intrigued you.\n\nSlides are not required at all\, but
you may wish to have one or more slides.\n\nIf you have slides\, have them
on the Internet (ideally Google Slides) as there will be a single laptop
connected to the TV for you to give your talk.\n\nWe have no idea how many
of you will do a talk\, so expect anything\, but remember\, we are our ow
n audience and want each other to succeed!\n\nFollowing the lighting talks
we'll have a brief chat about all the things we heard\, then head to a lo
cal pub for further discussions.\n\nPostcode Lottery are kindly sponsoring
the event and are providing drinks and snacks.\n\nhttps://www.larachat.co
